Catch Up

I haven’t been HALF as good at keeping up with this as I may have like, but I have no time to dwell in the past…except to tell you what’s been happening around the Striclyn home.

Jonathan and I have finally settled into our cozy new rental house.  I’ve told him a couple of times already that I’m going to have a hard time handing it over to his mom when she gets to move in next summer!  On the bright side, at least it will stay in the family  (:

Two days after we got back from our trip to Arkansas, I had an interview with the babysitting/nanny company I heard about through a friend.  That very Monday night, I walked away with a job, and I started working about a week later.  In the mean time, my crafty husband started building and selling picnic tables and my, did they turn out pretty!  He has sold several just like this one, and he’ll even make you custom shapes and sizes.  In addition to selling picnic tables, God has just recently provided him with a full-time job working in La Vergne (only two exits down from our house!).

We also started a garden!  We plan to expand it before too long, but right now we have a row of buttercrunch lettuce and a row of sweet peas!  What we didn’t know before picking out a location for the garden was that our yard is home to some pesky bunny rabbits.  It’s a good thing Jonathan has been practicing shooting with his bow and arrows!  (;

We’ve had a few visitors…my mom came to spend Easter weekend with me!  She helped us paint the dining room and we got to go visit some of her family in East Tennessee.  A couple of my most excellent friends came all the way from Searcy, AR to spend time with me on my birthday weekend (unfortunately we didn’t get any pictures on my camera)!  My very sweet friend Kelly stopped by for a Chuy’s lunch, and Jonathan’s mom came to stay with us just last weekend for his birthday/mother’s day weekend!

It has been a huge blessing to live so close to most of Jonathan’s side of the family–although it often makes me miss my side of the family in Texas.  We’ve been able to visit his Dad a few times and we are able to hang out with his sisters just as much as they can stand, since they both live so close!

We spend most of our free time hanging out with the house Church group.  It has been another GIANT blessing to have them nearby and to learn and grow together as a body.  There are so many stories and updates and prayers to share, but that will have to be its own post at a later time.

Well, that about wraps it up for this post.  Thanks for checking up on us!
