Baby Striclyn · pregnancy week to week

36 weeks

36 weeks, 6 days (oops!)
36 weeks, 6 days (oops!)

How far along?  36 weeks (Feb 23-March 1)

Maternity clothes?  Yep, although they seem to be getting shorter 🙂

Stretch marks?  Yesss

Sleep?  Eh, pretty bad.  Average bathroom trips per night total around 6 this week.  I always end up wide awake when I get back to bed, so I think my body is just preparing me for the sleep deprivation to come.

Miss Anything?  Sleeping through the night.

Movement?  When our little baby moves, she brightens my day!  Sometimes I watch how my friend Rachel’s newborn moves and I can imagine an action that might accompany the wild jabs I feel in there.  It is just perfect.

Food cravings?  No cravings, just aversions.  Anything acidic is off the menu pretty much from now on.  I’ve had a little relief from heart burn since the baby is dropping (Yes, dropping!!!  We are so close!!!!!), but I’m much better off if I eat food that is easy on the stomach.

Anything making you queasy or sick?  I get a little nauseous when I start to over think things and my nerves get all rattled up.

Best moment this week?  This week, I swam a whole mile, we had the church over for a bonfire at our house, and got confirmation that our baby is dropping (aka she is getting ready to come to the outside world!)!  It was a pretty good week. 🙂

Worst moment of the week?  I don’t remember anything terrible this week, but I did struggle with a lot of fear.  Fear about childbirth:  pain, complications, not having my mom with me, etc.  Fear about parenting, finances, facing more grief/loss . . . the list could go on and on.  Anyway, one day when I was swimming, I randomly remembered the song my mom chose to use for my high school graduation slide show.  I couldn’t remember all of the words immediately, but I did remember it saying “These are the words I would say.”  It made me really emotional and I had to repress it so I didn’t drown.  As soon as I got home, I looked it up and listened.  Here are some of the lyrics:

. . . I started writing
just what I’d say
if we were face to face

I’d tell you just what you mean to me
Tell you these simple truths

Be strong in the Lord and
never give up hope.
You’re gonna do great things
I already know
God’s got his hand on you so
don’t live life in fear
forgive and forget
but don’t forget why you’re here
Take your time and pray
These are the words I would say

From one simple life to another
I will say
Come find peace in the Father

Be strong in the Lord and
never give up hope.
You’re gonna do great things
I already know
God’s got his hand on you so
don’t live life in fear
forgive and forget
but don’t forget why you’re here
Take your time and pray
Thank God for each day
His love will find a way
These are the words I would say.

(“The Words I Would Say” by Sidewalk Prophets)

Listen to the song here

I had recently been telling Jonathan that I just wish my mom would have written me a letter full of advice and things she wanted me to know and keep close, so when I realized all that this song was saying it really hit me hard.  I can still hear her singing along to this song with the radio.  I am so richly blessed.

How much are you showing this week?  More than ever.

Pregnancy Brain?  Yes, mostly just talking funny.

Labor Signs?  I took a yoga class with my friend, Natalie, and afterward we walked around the track for a while.  While we were walking I definitely had an increased amount of Braxton Hicks contractions–they were painless, so I wasn’t too worried.

Belly Button in or out?  Yes.

Wedding rings on or off?  On, but only because I forced them back on after taking them off to prepare some raw meat.

Happy or Moody most of the time?  Happy!

Looking forward to?  Meeting our baby in LESS THAN THREE WEEKS!!!!!!!  Oh I can’t wait to tell everyone her name!  😀

  1. And, I can’t wait to have you tell us her name and that all went well, as I’m sure it will. Believe me when I tell you, you’ll feel your mom’s presence, and when you look at your baby’s face, you’ll know how much she loved you!
